Benzodiazepine with a medium length of action. Used to treat anxiety disorders.

Benzodiazepines have three different levels of action. They are used for anxiety, to relax muscle stiffness and to help sleeping.

Those three effects of benzodiazepines are mainly dependent on the dose that is given. A few are particular for treating anxiety, others for sleep.

Special use for benzodiazepines is: Epilepsy as well as alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Remember in general: older people need less sleep and sometimes the sleep pattern is different. A little nap during daytime?

 
 
 
  How do they work?
Alprazolam has an effect on the central nervous system relieving anxiety.

How long do you take them for?
For a very short period of time, because it may cause dependency.

When does the effect show or when is it noticeable?
The effect will show short after taking the tablet.

What are the side effects if any?
Take your first dose while sitting. Because there may be an effect on your muscle strength (weakening), causing you to fall. There is an effect on your alertness also, so do not drive or use dangerous machinery. Drowsiness during the day, numbed emotions, reduced alertness, confusion, fatigue, headache, dizziness, muscle weakness, ataxia, or double vision.

How do you take them?
Take with enough water and some food to prevent dizziness.

Can I take this if I am Pregnant, want to conceive or if Iam breast feeding?
It is not advised to take benzodiazepines during pregnancy or if you want to conceive. Alprazolam may pass into breast milk, consequently its use during breast feeding is not recommended.

Lifestyle:
Take exercise; take some quality time to relax. Warning: never combine the use of benzodiazepines with taking alcohol.
