amoxicillin

Pinamox, Amoxiclav (with clavulanic acid), Germentin(with clavulanic acid), Augmentin duo, Pinaclav (with clavulanic acid), Geramox, Clonamox, Augmentin (with clavulanic acid), Amoxil

 
 
 

 

(Penicillin) antibiotic. Used to treat a large variety of infections caused by bacteria.

Combined with two or three other medicines, it is used to treat Helicobacter Pylori infections of the stomach.

A one time high dose (3 gram) is used to prevent bacterial infections of the heart (bacterial endocarditis). Bacterial endocarditis can occur following dental work or other operations in patients who have heart conditions or artificial heart valves.

Do not combine different antibiotics unless you are advised to do so by your doctor.

 
 
 
 

How do they work?
Penicillin antibiotics kill certain types of bacteria and so will help your body to clear the infection.

How long do you take them for?
Normally you will have to take a course lasting five days. Some times if necessary the doctor will prescribe it for a longer period of time. Always finish the whole prescribed course.

When does the effect show or when is it noticeable?
After a few days(3 or 4) the infection will clear up.

What are the side effects if any?
Diarrhoea, nausea (try to take it with food), skin rash. Allergy for penicillin antibiotics.

How do you take them?
Take the tablet or capsule with enough water. Divide the doses well over the day. If necessary take the dose with food.

Can I take this if I am Pregnant, want to conceive or if Iam breast feeding?
You can take amoxicillin when you are pregnant. There is no problem to breast feed a baby while on a course of penicillin.
